What I teach

Lessons are built around the music you actually want to play. Bring your favourite songs and we'll work from there.

Electric and lead

Riffs, power chords, solos, bending, vibrato, scales and improvisation. Rock, blues, metal, indie and pop. We'll also cover amp and pedal basics so you get a tone you like.

Acoustic

Open chords, strumming and fingerpicking, playing along to songs, and accompanying your own singing. Great for beginners and for anyone who wants to play around the kitchen table or at a session.

Lessons in a dedicated teaching room

Every lesson is private and one-to-one, in a dedicated music room at my home in Tuam. No groups and no distractions. Just you, a guitar and a plan that fits how you learn.

I've been playing guitar for over 30 years. I started on acoustic and progressed to lead, and I've gigged, recorded, and played both originals and covers along the way.

My taste is wide: classic rock like Led Zeppelin and Hendrix, grunge from Nirvana to Pearl Jam, modern rock from U2 to Oasis, and acoustic favourites like Dermot Kennedy and Dave Matthews. I also have a guitar collection my wife says is far too big.

I love playing, but I enjoy helping people learn just as much. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or finally want to nail that solo, I'll teach you the songs and skills you care about, at your pace.
